Narration

We had the advantage of amplitude, our wing
beats could never choreograph their moves. It’s
absurd to apportion blame to this or that. Signatures
on my codpiece were salutes to sand. No-one
remembers who left which doodle or dingbat.

Except for your arc. When most were siring I
was invested in your ecosystem. Some pitied
me for my predilections, those privy to my province
looked the other way. Which dominie could have
disentangled it? We took routes we thought
were right trusting hindsight to approbate them.

Solitudinarian

When your palm nudges me to its brace
it releases an assembly of motifs. Is this
dividend of my emotional stake?

In separation you are handy, closeness
places me in a psychological hinterland.
We have no secret except this one.

Gift of grief comes unannounced. It is a
dead letter but it reaches. Circumstances
roll their cuffs, nab me by the neck.

Slumbertime Stories

Sporting lodestar’s daughter and dowager
both A-listers, were at a downtown gala
offering sound bites. The younger actress
spiritedly informed the house of how her
mother had metamorphosed to a dog lover.
“She lets her pup sleep on her bed.” Was I
the only who noticed: tail-wagger has taken
the southpaw’s place?

Outside Artist

Do intellectual accomplishments
of the aficionado matter? Or, is
a reader a reader? Venations prod
me to believe pathways unfurl.
Steer is to repurpose love and its
lure. Coziness of a cannonball
associates to before my time.
Disused emotions serve their scope:
essence relocates to craftship.

Emprise

Hesitancies played hooky when rapaciousness
overtook reasoning. I turned into a gofer of
greed. Chorus of breath garlanded my cravings.
Which is better: internal or external callus?
Profusion of philistines ensues fallout of the
artistic quotient. Palpable while at it in a bawdy-
house in another continent.
